What comes to your mind when you hear the term, Content Creator?
Let me guess, YouTube Star, the Kardashians, and TikTok, right🤦♂️
We were in Dallas a few weeks ago for Podcast Movement, and we spent some time interviewing attendees and asked them this simple question:
What is a Creator?
The responses we got were across the spectrum but fell into these two primary categories:
Creators that create for a passion, hobby or cause.
Or
Creators that create for a business purpose.
I am partial to the latter, and my friend Julia McCoy from Content Hacker recently introduced me to Joe Pulizzi, the Founder of The Tilt.
Joe has done a much better job than me trying to explain this as follows:

Become A "Successful Entrepreneur" By Doing The Opposite Of Marketing.
The Internet has changed us.
Our expectations have heightened.
We don't tolerate ads and monotonous messages like we did back in 2001 (or even 2011).
Too much is free. Too much is readily available.
Attention spans are shortening by the day. If we're not getting what we're looking for right now, we'll gladly move along and try to find it somewhere else.
This is great article on why your should NOT be "marketing" to be successful in 2022.

Former Story Brand COO Tim Schurrer Explains How A Spotlight Mindset Prevents You From Success!
The anthem of success in the modern world can best be described by Lana del Rey’s baroque dreampop song Money, Power, and Glory – a “stoplight mindset” that society tirelessly echoes.
But this type of success is unsustainable. At worst, it can devolve into a dark triad of personality traits, and at best lead to an empty and restless existence plagued by want.
If you find yourself trapped in a never-ending pursuit for fame and riches, then it’s time to step out of the stoplight mindset.
In today’s episode of BizableTV, Former Story Brand COO Tim Schurrer shares with you the secrets necessary for success – whether in business or in life.
Through engaging anecdotes, Tim outlines how you can reconcile the tension between contentment and striving by reevaluating your definition of success.
Winning at work can greatly jeopardize your personal life and wellbeing, which is why it is important to be content with the less quantifiable aspects of life and focus on what really matters.
Though it may not come as a new revelation, few heed the message that adopting an altruistic mindset is integral to a double-win: success at both work and at life.
While helping others win often feels counterintuitive, you may experience even greater success in doing so.
However, you shouldn’t assist others solely to get ahead. At its basis, true success comes with serving others and helping them win, without minding who gets recognition.
Here are the key takeaways from today’s episode:
